WHAT TYPE OF TOILET YOU SHOULD NOT BE BUYING
Buying a toilet might sound like it's the easiest thing to do, but it's not. Over the years, many of us have given professional advice to our clients on this. Allow us to do the same for you.
TOO MUCH NOISE
There are some great toilets on the market. The trick is buying one that doesn't make a lot of noise. The pressure flusher toilets might make sense on paper, but they really aren't a great buy. In the end, no pun intended, you will be forcing the job. A pressure flusher will make lots of noise and sometimes be finished before you are.
We have seen a number of these. We have heard more bad reviews on these then good. Don't waste your money on one of these.
THE HIGHER-END DEALS
The European models might seem attractive, but are also a bad idea. The custom-made toilets are going to end up costing more. It might not happen up front, but when it comes to replacement parts it will. The replacement parts aren't going to come cheap. In fact, they are going to be very expensive.
You will also have to buy the replacement parts more often then the other brands. Please don't get swayed in by the promotions. The toilets with the non-standard parts are not the worth the price you pay.
THE LID
Don't pick on that slams shut. What you want is something which gradually closes. We tell our clients this all the time. You are going in for a specific reason. You are not looking to make a big show of it. What happens in the middle of the night? Do you really want to wake everyone up in the house. Do you want to hurt your hands and fingers because of the lid? Go for something much quieter.
THE COLOR
Pick a color that won't be as dated. In five years time, certain colors are going to look tired and out-dated. These colors will also make your home harder to sell, if you do plan to do this at some point. The color white is one color which falls into this category.
Pick something else. Try a blue or green, but not something that will look out of place.
