It's Time to Go Low Flow

McAllen Plumber

This plumbing knowledge will justify why you should "go low flow" and eliminate the frowning about high water bills and start saving $$$$$$. What you are about to read may shock you, but the good news is that installing low-flow fixtures and toilets will save you money.

Bathtub Shower Heads

On occasion, a soothing bath works wonders as an occasional treat, but to save money, best you stick with showers. The average bath uses up to 50 gallons of water - yikes! On the other hand, a 10 minute shower with a low-flow shower head only uses 25 gallons.

Speaking of low-flow products have your plumber install low-flow faucet aerators. The usual conventional faucets can flow as high as 3 gallons per minute. But the low-flow faucet only flows at 1.5 gallons per.

Your Toilets!

Can you guess who the biggest "water hog" in your home or business is? It's flushing your toilets. Most older conventional toilets can use up to 7 gallons each time you push the flush button. Low-flow models use about 1.6 gallons per flush. If you flushed your toilet five times per day, do the math. Low-flow toilets have been on the market for a while and there are many from which to choose. Have your plumber show you what they have.

Your Faucets!McAllen Fixture Installation

The inefficient faucet eats up more than 2.5 gpm. If you still use those antiques, change to high-efficiency faucets that have a flow rate of no more than 1.5 gpm.

Your Showerheads!

Showering accounts for more than 20 percent of indoor water use. Standing in the shower burns up nearly 20 gallons per minute. You can cut your water use by 70 percent by simply switching to an ultra-low-flow shower head.

High-efficiency shower faucets have a flow rate of no more that 1.5 gpm. Time to call your plumber.
